Humans Above Boundaries

Safe Space Gatherings are HAB's newest program to support emotional aspects of women's reproductive healthcare. Many women have no opportunity, no place, no people with whom they can feel OK to discuss their deepest personal experiences with their own reproductive health matters - especially abortion. They may keep their most powerful feelings bottled up inside silently - for months, years, their entire lives.
A Safe Space Gathering is a small, totally confidential, nonjudgmental group of women friends who an HAB-tutored Host brings together to share personal stories, listen deeply, and explore their experiences, questions, or feelings around abortion and reproductive care. These are not for debates and not for fundraising pitches — they’re for moments of trust, solidarity, and truth-telling.
They can serve as powerful spaces for reflection, connection and healing — and may also become the foundation for broader engagement in One Woman at a Time and other HAB activities.
While best held live and in-person like in a home or a park, a Safe Space Gathering can take place via Zoom like this one below. Refreshments and empathy make it a unique coming together of supportive friends.

Safe Space Guiding Principles include:
* Listen before responding
* Speak from personal experience, not assumptions
* Leave space for complexity of our lives
* Hold boundaries kindly but firmly
